My Ford Walton Vacation Diary Part 1 – Tips To Start You Better

21st Feb, 2017 – 10 pm

Hi, I am Lisa!

I am writing this post from the small backyard of my house. After 3 days, my leaves will end and I will get back to the boring and professional routine again.

Three months back, I had just started working in an investment bank in Florida. Beaches used to fascinate me. I use to stroll on the quiet Miami beach with a couple of beer with my friends. Sitting on the cool and golden beach sand, I use to ‘listen’ to the deep and baritone voice of the sea telling me to chase my dreams.

Very soon, I picked up my fascination for beaches and found that Fort Walton is an amazing place to explore if you are a beach freak. It was 500 miles away. After the hefty three months, I asked my manager to grant me a 4-day leave. Once approved, I was on Cloud Nine.

Cut short guys and back to the backyard again! I am already back from my holiday L

As the quiet wind gazes down my face prompting me to share my part of the story, I want to divide my travel story into short posts. Let’s begin with the tips!

Tip # 1 – Double and Triple Check The Property Please!

  • Yes, very important else you will get horribly wrong in paying for something which does not exist! I saw the description of a beach resort somewhere with a nice cheesy line that my condo will be steps away from the beach.
  • When I arrived, I was horrified to see that the distance ended up being a more than thousand feet. Worst to follow, the bedroom was equal to the size of a closet!
  • The legal procedure to get a refund is very complicated. I called up one of my friends and was quickly informed to opt for this beach condo rental in Fort Walton.
  • Make sure to check the property and tell them to give a video tour so that you know what you are paying for! Trust me, these resorts are way too much expensive and you cannot take chances.

Tip # 2 - Do not miss the Okaloosa Island Pier

  • After a relaxing day at the Condo and a sumptuous breakfast, I was up again! Now, I have heard about the famous Okaloosa Island Pier.
  • With butterflies in my stomach, I visited this beach. With dolphins jumping out of the water and sun setting down right behind it, my eyes popped out. I think I have never seen a mesmerizing scene before. Do not miss it guys! It just takes $2 to enter this family-friendly beach. Plus, it is very pretty and clean. And yes, kindly take a picture with a professional DSLR camera.
  • Taking a walk at the pier and gazing to the sea was something I want to cherish and will advise people to visit it early in the morning or during the sunset time.

Tip # 3 – Try an Adventure Sport

  • I always had that feeling that I can never try an adventure sport. What will happen if I just fell down and die! Facing your fear is the ultimate human experience. Trust me, ladies! If you are going to visit Ford Walton Beach, please try Parasailing and Paragliding. It costs $50-65 per person only.
  • You need to make sure to go out for an afternoon trip so that you can enjoy the windy conditions which make it very easy to parasail.
  • The crew gave me the outfit and told me to loosen myself up. They also stocked the right gear around the outfit. I saw couples also parasailing together (Maximum weight limit is 450 pounds).
  • Believe me, it is a cool, soothing, and smooth experience. Within a few seconds, I was up in the air.

Tip # 4 – Eat Healthy Food

  • Due to the moist climate, you must not eat oily and cheesy burgers. It is good to eat fresh fruits, sprouts, and boiled vegetables to feel light.
  • It will help you walk swiftly in those heavy beach sand area and also avoid overeating at the same time.

Tip # 5 – Drink Lots of Water

  • You are going to sweat a lot and will need plenty of water to keep you hydrated all the time.
Back to the apartment guys! Hey, I have to leave because it’s getting too late and I need to start checking my emails from tomorrow. I will share more tips soon apart from an incident which changed my life completely. It was one of my most enchanting and memorable experience.

Stay tuned guys! Till then, take care and be happy!
